The Copa del Rey (Spanish Cup) is Spain's annual football competition (the full name is is Campeonato de España - Copa de Su Majestad El Rey Don Juan Carlos I (or, Championship of Spain - His Majesty King Juan Carlos I's Cup), and refers current Spanish King , Juan Carlos I.
The cup has been contested since1902 and has been won most often by FC Barcelona - 25 times.
Entry to the Cup competition is limited to teams from the Primera Division (La Liga), Segunda A (First Division), about twenty-three teams from the Segunda B (Second Division).
The tournament starts off with one-off games and the lower teams get home advantage. This is followed by a round of 32, the round of 16 which are also knock out games. The quarter finals and semi-finals are played over two legs. The final is as a once-off game played at a neutral venue.
