Online casino craps offers players some of the best odds that can be found at online casinos. This is due to the fact that land based casinos have always competed for a share of the craps pie, thereby offering more attractive odds to their clients. Online casinos have followed this trend.
At first glance, the game of craps can seem somewhat daunting. The table looks different to anything you may have seen and the pace of the game lends itself to high energy and dynamism. This is why it is important to learn the rules of the game first so that when you do start off your craps career, things will seem a lot clearer to you.
There are three sets of people in a game of craps - the shooter, the other players at the table and the casino staff. By understanding all of these roles, you will be able to grasp the rules of craps.
The Shooter
Each player at the table has a chance to roll the dice. The person who is rolling the dice is called the "shooter". The first roll of the dice by any new shooter is called the "come out roll". As the shooter, the aim is to throw a winning dice combination on the first roll - these combinations are 7 and 11. If, however, you throw a 2, 3 or 12 then this is an automatic loss.
If none of the above numbers are diced in the come out roll then whatever other number has been thrown will become what is known as the "point". The game continues until either the point or a 7 is rolled. In order to win, you need to roll this point number (which could be 4, 5, 6, 8, 9 or 10). However, if a 7 is rolled then the shooter loses.
The Other Players
All players at the table are allowed to bet on the throw of the dice. It all depends on whether you wish to back the shooter or place any of the other bets. Players can bet on the shooter winning, against the shooter winning or on a multitude of other bets.
Not everybody has to have a turn to be the shooter. If it is your turn to be the shooter then you have the option of declining and the dice will be passed on the next player at the table.
The Non-Players
There are two dealers at the craps table who keep an eye on the table and settle bets. The stickman is the centre point of the game and he/she controls the dice and helps the dealers. The fourth person at the table is the boxman. This person acts as a banker and keeps an eye out for cheats.
Luckily, many of the online craps games are automated so that there is no way that a player can cheat.
