Genting Casinos is an international company that not only operate numerous land based resorts and casinos in the United Kingdom, Australia, the Philippines, Malaysia and Singapore, but they also own and control numerous well known and patronised online casinos.
History
Genting Group originated and was incorporated under the Companies act of 1965. The late Tan Sri(DR.) Lim Goh Ton started Genting Group and his initial project was to build a 20km private access road through some very treacherous terrain. Since that time, the Genting Group have been involved in various business ventures, but to date, the most exciting was in 1970 when the Genting Group changed their name to the Genting Highlands Hotel Sdn Bhd which operated out of Malaysia. Under this new name they were granted a gaming license to operate a hotel and casino. In 1978 however, they officially reverted back to their original name of Genting Berhad. Since then numerous resorts, land based casinos and hotels have been opened and in 2009 Genting launched online casino and bingo sites and formed Genting Alderney to control this sector.
Genting Berhad is a public company and is listed on the Malaysian Stock Exchange.

Genting UK is not only known in the UK as one of the largest land based casino operators, but they are also renowned as having one of the oldest private clubs in the world. Crockfords, running under Genting UK, which is a subsidiary of Genting Singapore, was founded in 1828 by William Crockford and was sponsored by the Duke of Wellington
Genting Malaysia
Founded in 1984, this public company owns 6 hotels, including The First World which is the largest hotel in the world with its 6,118 rooms, 50 fun rides, 170 dining and shopping outlets and caters to over 20 million visitors per annum. In 1998 Genting Malaysia branched out and bought shares in Star Cruises, who are the leading cruise operators in the Asia Pacific. Today Genting Malaysia owns 19.3% of Star Cruises.
